Connector glossary
Workplace Search
The name for search across the whole of Interact. It encompasses everything related to search, including general and quick search, widgets, content blocks, rescore, boosting, connectors, and Manage Pages.
Connector
A tool that defines a way to inject data into the Workplace Search index. Interact supports both native (fully managed) connectors and custom connectors.
Native connector
A fully managed connector, configured via JSON.
Custom connector
A connector that injects data into the Workplace Search index via the API.
Synchronisation session
A mechanism for handling the automatic deletion of previously synchronised documents that are no longer being synchronised.
External identity
An identifier associated with a user or document, used to enforce permissioned access to synchronised content.
Document
An item in the Workplace Search index that contains the textual content of external content, for searching and viewing in quick search, general search, content widgets, and the Content Listing Block. Selecting a link to view the item takes you to the external source, where the original content can be viewed in its original form.
State
Arbitrary data stored against users or documents in the Workplace Search index, used only by the synchronisation framework or synchronisation clients using the custom API.
