Windows, SAML and Local Directory Authentication

When creating a Profile, customers are able to choose their preferred intranet access type via the Authentication-type selector.

As default, the selector will show only ‘Local Directory’ and ‘Windows’ access types.

However, if a SAML service provider and identity provider has been set up, a ‘SAML’ access type will appear in place of the ‘Windows’ option.

📘

Please note:

When the SAML login type has been selected, the UI will then display that user’s access type as ‘Local Directory’ rather than ‘SAML’. This is expected behaviour and will not have any influence on the SAML configuration chosen for the user.

When using Local Directory login methods, make sure the Password Strength settings are set inline with your Organisation's security policies, and guidelines. This can be set using the Password Strength application variables, and can be customized to meet your security requirements. Interact recommends strong configuration in line with industry best practices.
